Amsterdam Airport Schiphol voted Europe's best airport on account of its cargo facilities

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was one of the winners during the 24th edition of the annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) ceremony in Shanghai on 10 June 2010. This will be the 17th time that readers of Cargonews Asia voted Schiphol as 'Best Airport Europe'. The AFSCAs are highly respected in the Far East.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol received the award on account of the superior quality of its freight infrastructure, competitive strength, cargo-friendly rates and investments in new infrastructure and cargo facilities. Enno Osinga, Senior Vice President Cargo Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: "Schiphol is honoured to accept this award. Air cargo transport to and from Asia is very important for the airport and the surrounding region. In 2009, 580,822 tonnes of cargo were transported to and from Asia; representing 45% of the airport's total cargo volume."

Rotterdam Harbour and ECT
Rotterdam harbour, which like Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is an important European main port, was also honoured with prizes. Rotterdam harbour won the award for 'Best Port in Europe' for the 24^th time. Rotterdam harbour is Europe's most important seaport for trade with Asia.
Europe Container Terminals (ECT) was voted 'Europe's best container terminal'. ECT has three container terminals in the port area of Rotterdam; making it Europe's largest transhipment company for containers in Europe.

Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards
Cargonews Asia, one of Asia's most prominent logistics trade journals, focuses predominantly on shippers that send cargo by air. Consequently, the AFSCAs are also known as the 'Shippers' Choice Awards'.
